The AOFW books seem to be really difficult to find. I've only ever found the first in Dutch in a local library but never anywhere else (in any language) and the other books not at all. I've been thinking of ordering from my fav bookstore at some point (already have some orders running^^) but I'm afraid it will be out of print.

Btw I bought Mouse Guard: fall 1152 last year (or two years ago? Meh can't remember). It was kinda expensive but really worth it. The artwork is just GORGEOUS! I really love the style and it's quite an interesting read as well. Really hope I find Winter 1152 somewhere sometime.
I got fall from the library and wanted to read winter but my library doesn't have it. :pipkin-oh

Foxcraft by Inbali Iserles. I read the first book (The Taken) and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the second book (I believe it is to be a trilogy) I most definitely recommend it if you like foxes or animal fiction in general. :)

YEESSS I love Warrior Cats! It's one of my fav series. I read it in both English and Dutch. (I also have one book, Starlight, in Japanese as well).

I'm currently impatiently waiting for my bookstore to confirm my order of Thunder and Shadow.

I'm almost on the 5th book of the 3rd series, and I think the first series is far the best

The first series was really great! I find it difficult to choose a favourite though but it might be between series 1 and Dawn of the Clans... but then again I might feel differently at other times. Heh, I guess I just really like the entire series, with some books being real highlights and others being more a low, but overall I love Warrior Cats^^

OH RIGHT THERE'S GOING TO BE A FILM!!!

It's nice to see you return and post again four years after your last visit, Owsla-rah :)

Having read the second Foxcraft book (The Elders) I can only recommend it even more. I already loved the first book but the second is even better! :fox

Also, thanks to this thread I read The Lord of the Flies and I must say I really enjoyed it. I'm glad I decided to give it a try, even though I had no clue what it was about beforehand, as I never had to read it for school or anything.^^

Oh, right, I did have to read Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist once for English and I remember I really liked it. I was about the only one in my class who did though.

(is this thread dead?)

im surprised nobody mentioned bambi! its very similar to the style of watership down - not to mention as heartwrenchingly sad - and not to mention in some editions (*cough cough* my hardcover edition) there are really pretty illustrations of deer! aah!! so pretty!!!
another animal book, although not so in the spirit of watership down or bambi, is where the red fern grows. sad stuff.

and another good philosophical book like the lord of the flies and also a hella sci-fi is do androids dream of electric sheep? good stuff, i promise

Part 3 of recommending things.  Here are some good books for Watership Down fans.

Tales from Watership down
Shardik
Traveler
The Plague Dogs
Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIHM
Tailchaser's song
Warriors
Of Mice and Men (Not much a about animals but one of the main characters loves rabbits)
Animal Farm
The tale of Despereaux
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
Felidae
Felidae on the Road
Whitefang
The Wildings
guardians of ga'hoole
Varjak paw

Graphic Novels:
Beasts of Burden
We3
Mouse Guard: Fall 1152

Traveller, Shardik, Plague Dogs, Of Mice and Men, Animal Farm...don't forget the books for younger folks, which are just as good reading for everyone...Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web,  Ralph the Runaway Mouse, and non fiction too. I LOVE Plague Dogs. The movie rocked too. And of course Bambi :).

There was one I just saw on Ebay, which said 'similiar to Watership Down' and it was ( or appeared to be from the front cover) a book about moles?? called DUNCTON WOOD by William Harwood...subtitled underneath " A Country Life." If it wasn't so expensive I might have gotten that.

A book about moles similar to WSD? Because it involves digging? :p

...I tried to imagine a Woundwort mole. Scary...

(actually a spy book involving moles would be fitting because you know moles... :el-ahrairah  )
