Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu Weed
« on: April 20, 2019, 07:11:23 PM »
Have any of you watched these great anime series that tell about warrior dogs?

I have been a fan of both is over 10 years, so both series are very dear to me, especially GNG. My favorite characters are Riki, Benizakura, John, Ben, Akame, Smith, Great, Hyena, Kai Brothers, Kisaragi, Hakuro, Jerome, Kagetora, Kyoshiro, GB and Tesshin.

I have seen GNG and I liked it a lot as a kid. But then I re-watched Watership down and read the book and rabbits have been my fave thing on the universe ever since. Gng has beautiful music, but  as watching it as a grown up it feels bit repeative. And the dogs seem more bad guys than the good guys. After all the bears just wanted to build a sanctuary where no humans could ever harm them. Kinda like what rabbits did in Watership down.

I've known about it for many years yet have not yet seen it. I'll try and watch some at some point because it does look quite interesting and I haven't seen many anime focused mainly on animals. :)
Here lies a signature that has little point.

If you ask me GNG has similiar backgrounds to Watership down, and its hand drawn and beautiful animation. But GDW is computer generated and looks like laggy video game.
Also even I loved them as little kid as adult I see them so repeative that I cant somehow enjoy it anymore the same.

Ho already remembers that anime, although I never really saw it. I've only seen images. It must be good, like Kimba the White Lion.

Well GNG has some similiarities with Kimba. Both of them has young super "I wanna-be-friends-with-everyone" young male lead who makes everyone love them by being generitic anime kids. Only I think GNG is lot of darker.

I recommend watching, just because the old anime is the best!

These seem very interesting :) I'll see if I find them anywhere to watch them.

Oh, I forgot to tell that in my country, Finland, this series is really popular! So this was originally published in Finland in 1989 in the four VHS, many of which scenes were cut off so that the series would not be so violent and that the duration is not too long. Despite bad Finnish dubs, the are legendary and I love Finnish dub because it were my childhood  :D

Finally, in 2003, the entire series was released as an Japanese uncut version of five DVD. In 2010, we also received the original Manga in Finnish.
