[Song Discussion] Thank you, Stars
« on: November 06, 2015, 08:16:01 PM »
(Reviewed by Darkling Nocturnal on The High Lonely Hills).

Sung by Cery Matthews, Thank You, Stars was written exclusively for the tv-series. It can be heard during the journey of Hazel and Primrose to Redstone. But also during the future episodes, the melody appears.

The melody saves a firm place in the third season. It can be heard during the outro. In a way, Thank You, Stars can be seen as the lawful follower of Bright Eyes. It's possible, that it is the most famous new song on the soundtrack and it was covered occasionally by famous actors (like Katie Meluna).

4/4

Review by Hawkbit, founder of Fiver's Honeycomb:

3 – Thank You, Stars (Vocal - Cerys Matthews) : While Bright Eyes was the song and theme of the original film, Thank You, Stars is the theme of the television series, and its melody can be heard throughout the first and second seasons. Matthews version of the song is somewhat raspy, especially when you compare it to the version performed by Katie Melua on her own albums. The lyrics though are nice and romantic, reminiscent of a peaceful starry night when you tell someone how much they mean to you.

I want to point out, that an instrumental version of this song can be heard during the end credits of season 3. ;)

"Thank you, Stars" is, alongside "(When you are) Losing your way in the rain" and **** Bright Eyes" one of my favorite songs on the entire franchise. I don't know what kind of effect it has, but I can't stop playing it when it comes up on my iPod. I haven't skipped it once and I don't think this is going to change.

Too bad that "Bright Eyes" is such a masterpiece, because this one could have easily been my favorite track for reading the book.

Yes. I almost had said, that they've used parts of the song "Fantasia on a Flying Theme", but the version in the end credits sounds a bit different to me.
