Windows Media Player ordering makes me sick

Alright, after my Receiver won't play music from USB-drives anymore (why ever), I wanted to use the Windows Media Player.

Unfortunately, this piece of ... Microsoft-software sorts my music alphabetically, not after track number. That's simply sh*t.

Does anyone has an idea how to solve the problem or does anyone knows a server-alternative?

I also tried Fritz!NAS. This works, but now's the question how to connect the storage. An USB-stick is too small, an external 2,5"-HDD would need an active USB-hub. But I'm not sure keeping the USB-hub running day and night. Another option would be a HDD in an passive-cooled 3,5"-case. This would be a cheap solution, because the HDD would cost about 18 € and I already have the case. But would it become too warm in the case. I can't turn it off, only use the energy saving options.

I would be glad, if WMP would work, but I don't know, how.

Did you try VLC Media Player instead?

I don't really understand what your setup is, so I can't really provide any more help...

I want to access the files through my Yamaha-Receiver.

Yamaha-Receiver connected through LAN with Fritz!Box
Fritz!Box connected through LAN with PC

So I can access shared music from my PC with my Receiver. Unfortunately, the WMP doesn't sort it correctly.

And I don't know, if VLC is able to do network-streaming.

I think there's a button for that on VLC - I don't pay much attention.

Maybe it's something in your WMP settings?
