[Song Discussion] The View from a Hill
« on: November 06, 2015, 08:20:53 PM »
(Reviewed by Darkling Nocturnal on The High Lonely Hills).

This song can be heard during the beginning of the episode A Tale of a Mouse. It's sung by Mike Batt,  accompanied with a beautiful guitar play. The song is very powerful, so it's not really a ballad; more a folk song. Really nice.

3/4

Review by Hawkbit, founder of Fiver's Honeycomb:

7 – The View From a Hill (Vocal - Mike Batt) : This song is not used in the series. Batt sings of looking out over the horizon and looking at what they have. The blend of piano and strings works well.

I've watched the series at least four times now, but every single time, I've either completely overlooked this song, or utterly forgotten its existence. I have the soundtrack, and I see that this song is on it, maybe I listen to it, but then it leaves my brain. It's like the opposite of an earworm. Very strange. I just listened to it and it's already disappearing again.

The song belongs on a 90s adult contemporary hits collection, but I don't associate it with Watership Down at all. Doesn't resonate at all for me, but I felt like talking about it.
