Intel Security True Key won't get off my computer.
« on: October 08, 2016, 05:06:05 PM »
So a few days ago I downloaded Adobe Flash player again so that I would be able to view a flash game online. When I downloaded Flash, it also downloaded this "True Key" thing without my permission and now I can't get it off of my computer. If I go into my control panel, and then into the uninstall programs section it simply doesn't appear, and if I try and delete the TrueKey files themselves some of them are apparently constantly running on my computer.

First: Deleting files manually could cause trouble when trying to do a normal uninstallation. O hoep, you haven't done this! Otherwise, it could get hard to get rid of this software.

Edit: Maybe, this hlps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBCq7_HtIik

Try to run CCleaner (use the Registry Cleaner as well)

Intel's making malware now?

And Adobe is cool with them putting crap like that in their most famous program?

Somehow, I'm not surprised.

What does this "True Key" thing even do?

Honestly, your best bet would be to either send all the files of that malicious piece of junk to your desktop, RESTART your computer, then deleting them and see if that works. Or you could download Avast and make it search the location in hopes of it recognizing it as a virus or spyware and putting it in quarantine.

Thanks for the advice.

True Key is actually a legit program from adobe that's intended to be more secure, but the problem with it is that it can slow down your pc, malware can be installed on "accident" through it, and hackers can get through it easier.

I'm also not the best with computers, so I may have f***ed it up on accident.

Install ADW Cleaner (http://download.cnet.com/AdwCleaner/3000-7786_4-75851221.html)

It may help you to remove the program (it removed many crap from office computers, I worked with).

Also try "Hijack this". It works like a charm in malware.

Unfortunately, that didn't delete it. I'm going to keep trying until I get this thing off though.

Here is something I found online, I don't know if it works.

1: Right-click the True Key desktop icon (if you already deleted it, restore it from the Recycle Bin).
2: Click "show in folder" or something like that.
3: Go up one level.
4: There should be a uninstall link.

The evil is vanquished!

I don't exactly know how this happened, but I somehow found the uninstall program and ran it, deleting all of it's files. Thanks for the support, all of you :D
