Speedwell is probably the most interesting character from the original book never to have been adapted.
Have you considered making each day count - doing something meaningful each day - instead of letting the days and weeks and months and years fly into oblivion? --Bright Side

I'm struggling to think of a single quote of his.

I suppose he was saying "steady on old chap" when Bigwig slapped Buckthorn.

He's the one who announced the birth of Clover's kittens to the rest of the gang.  And then there's the entire chapter 7 of TFWD :hannah4

It's canon
That whole chapter

The only question is who Clover's kittens get their good looks from.

In the book, I think it is implied that Holly is the father.

That reminds me...Bluebell told Kehaar to tell Bigwig to bring one doe out of Efrafa for everyone else, but two for him.  During their next meeting, Kehaar told Bigwig exactly that :bluebell

Well, it's a good thing that Bluebell couldn't count much higher than that.

Have enough does and your bound to get Bambi.

Dont remember much of speedwell in the original book but he really does stand out in tales from since he has that great chapter to himself.
I think it's time to reread watership down for the 4th time now as a refresher.
