Welcome to the WSD Novel Community Read!

What is this event about?

The purpose of this event is to enjoy the novel together and share our thoughts on it: things you liked, you didn't like, new things you noticed, things that confuse you, etc. This can range from a deep analyses of that week's chapters to simply expressing your feelings on them - anything is allowed and welcomed, so don't be discouraged to post!

How does it work?

It works like this: the book will be divided into parts, each part containing a certain amount of chapters. (Chapters will be used instead of pages to take into account the many different versions of the book). Every week we will read one such part and that part will then be the topic for that week's discussion.

How to join?

Just pick up the book (or e-reader) and start reading! Any thoughts during said reading process? Share them with us!
Anyone can join in, even later on in the event, it is perfectly fine to start and catch up. Also, if you have recently read the novel (or simply have a better memory than me), then feel free to join in the discussion of the chapters of that week, even if you are not currently rereading it! The more, the merrier!

In fact it sounds pretty good dynamics, because it encourages me to read the book again (I've been 6 times already XD). I will try to participate as much as I can, because I am busy writing my own works and reading the fan fic of Hipster-Roo X3

Chibiscuit your drawing is really great.  I like how it uses a notice board similar to what announced the destruction of Sandleford, and you put the first few lines of the book on it.  You drew the rabbits very well.  The one at the left looks like Blackberry; who are the other two?

Thank you, Chipster! I'm quite happy with the result as well. And you're right, the rabbit on the left is Blackberry  . The one in the middle is Bluebell and the one on the right Silver  .

I'm looking forward to it myself as well! Both to read the book again (as it really has been a while and remember very little detail) and to see what thoughts others will have whilst reading.

That's great!

I was thinking of simply using this thread in general (unless that's too messy?) and if a certain bigger discussion point comes up it could always move to the book discussion section to continue there. Since comments can range from short posts about what they thought or felt (without any real discussion topic, though responding to others is encouraged of course) to  something that might warrant its own thread, this method seemed best to me.

Unless there are other suggestions?

I'm going to make a section just for it.  Then we can put week 1 (7/30-8/5) Chapters 1-5 or something.  One huge thread is no good.  That will be a mess.

We're beginning week 4 tomorrow (21/8)! After week 4 we will have rounded up part 1 of the book (The Journey) so I thought it might be a good place for a small break (1 week). This will give anyone wanting to catch up and/or join in an opportunity to do so.

Stopping after part 1 seems like a good idea, I think I also approve of the one-week break; I'll be rather busy in real life next week.

I'm tied up in my other book series I'm reading, so I haven't caught up yet.  A break would be nice (for me) otherwise you'll lose me in the process.

We have reached the end of part 1 of the book. This week (27/8 - 2/9) we will take a break so any who want to catch up can do so. If you want to post simply do so in designated thread - and I hope to see you in one week to start part 2 of the book!
