I just wish we'd had a proper start to the series, so that we see Fiver and Hazel coming across the notice board, have them meet the chief rabbit who gets angry with Bigwig at allowing them to disturb him for what is in his opinion, nonsense and that they followed the sequence of the book better. However, I like the fact that it expands the rabbits' world, with Dark Haven and Captain Broom's abandoned warren and Campion befriending the Watership Downers. I always liked Campion in the book and it annoyed me somewhat that he was a 'villain.' I do think that it's my favourite version because of how it expanded the world of the rabbits, but on the other hand, I wish there had been some things in it which were truer to the book and the additions done in series two. (Incidentally in my early teen years I wrote some terrible fan fiction that has some parallels to the 1999 series before it was made, which I only discovered when I got the dvd box set of the series some years ago.)

Yes, the series deserves a better start. Expands of rabbits' world are great but I not all ideas are good enough and in my opinion more of these expands would not fit to book or other adaptations. I think that because series is much different, It's more fairy tale-like, unrealistic and specific in relation to other versions (although Campion thread could fit because it's ablotely great). There are a lot differences from the books that annoyed me at first but over time I appreciated them.

Hmmm, in my list the movie is the best adaptation and at first I really hated this TV series because its differences, but finally I noticed that this is a very good series! It's not surpass the movie for sure, but I like this still and it was nice when this used some things from book and also created new stories and characters, and some characters are even better in this than in book or movie (Pipkin for example) :) The only thing that still bothers me a bit is that in the season 3 the character designs suddenly change... It's just confusing.

At first I also hated the series because of the differences between it and the book (or even other adaptations). However, over time I got convinced, I like it a lot, although some things continue to bother me. Indeed, a couple of characters are better, but certainly not Pipkin (he is, in my opinion, one of the worst changes in the series).
