Dewdrop
« on: December 24, 2018, 11:37:34 PM »
One of a few new characters from the miniseries.

Spoiler: ShowHide
She's pretty pointless, honestly.  She's just some doe at Sandleford that Hazel has a crush on.  He invites her to leave with him, but she refuses, instead telling Holly about it.  She presumably dies in the warren's destruction, but Hazel doesn't care, he's found Clover.

Her voice actress, Gemma Chan, is perhaps one of the most famous of the entire cast, but she still gets less than 10 lines.

Dewdrop?
Oh yeeeeeah.

Spoiler: ShowHide
The unnecessary love interest for Hazel who tells the Owsla and foreshadows. Kinda makes Hazel look pretty callous with Clover, eh?

Yeah...
Hazel doesn't seem to mind that much that she was killed at Sandleford, does he?  He doesn't even ask Holly if she managed to get away.

She's never mentioned again, no.
Hazel doesn't seem to mind that much that she was killed at Sandleford, does he?
Oof, that's right. Hazel, that's pretty bad.

Not a big fan of how it makes Hazel look, or that it seems unintentional on the writing end. Seems like Hazel didn't just forget her, the story writers did too.

You're probably right that the writers forgot about her too. It wouldn't have been that hard to have Holly mention her when he retold the warren's destruction, would it?

Or (even better) have her travel with him, since Bluebell is part of Hazel's original gang.

Ooh, awkward love triangle.

No joke, I completely forgot she existed. Frankly, she wasn't at all necessary. Hazel really didn't need to have a moment of hesitation.

That's true.  After he and Fiver decided to leave Sandleford in the book, they never hesitated until their departure.

Dewdrop was the most pointless addition in this series, I think. She was only there to give Hazel a reason to shout at Fiver at Cowslip's warren.

And apparently to inform the Owsla Hazel & co were planning on leaving.

I'd say it's to foreshadow Nettle, at best.

But I think you're right. After that the writers probably completely forgot her too.

Perhaps. Didn't even think about that.

I mean, that's being generous. I truly would not be surprised if the series writers just forgot entirely.

At least Nettle and Hyzenthlay seemed to actually have a bond. Dewdrop didn't even seem to like Hazel

Dewdrop was pretty and a snitch. That's her character.

Oh, and Clover is better than her in every way because Clover is better than everyone in every way.

Pretty much.  'snitch' is the one trait she did not steal, I guess.

Clover started out okay but that quickly changed. I read your opinion on her and I mostly agree with it.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far.

Dewdrop is the girl questioning Hazel at the start right?
