Fire on Fire

I gradually warmed up to it given its use as a credits song to punctuate whatever the episode ended with, the melody sounds melancholy enough to be appropriate to the story's tone. But the lyrics don't sound remotely related to Watership Down, so I pretend they don't exist. I treat the music video as a random song put to WD clips, which worked pretty well because it made the clips more powerful to me and honestly seems like a better preview of the show than its trailer, provided I keep them associated with each other instead of listening to the song by itself. I don't expect it'll be a song I'll remember months later though.

Its not that, - it's just that the song isn't in the movie. It just runs during the credits. It isn't even melodically quoted in the episodes. I'm not talking as a rival songwriter, I'm just bewildered as to what it's got to do with the film, even musically #watershipdown

That's a good point, it would have had more impact if the song or its melody was set to one of the action sequences, or maybe there could be a quiet scene it plays on with the rabbits walking alone on a cold night. When I listened to "Winter Song" from the TV series, it was only later that I realized its melody was used in one of the episodes, and the spoken dialogue referenced it by being nearly the same lyrics timed very close to the same part of the melody, elevating that scene to one of my favorites in the series because it felt respectful (specifically,

S2 E9 (Christmas on Watership Down Part 2) as Pipkin's finishing his El-ahrairah tale. He says "No matter how cold the winter, or how deep the snow, we will be warm again, and the grass will grow". The music's soft, but it is there.

Have it play during the break-out from Efrafa, and play the chorus when Kehaar's flying in slow motion. Slow-motion Kehaar makes anything awesome.

I feel like Bright Eyes could have been included in the fog scene when Clover and Bigwig are searching for Hazel. That scene felt like it stretched on just a whee bit too much, like they were planning on having a bit of Bright Eyes in there. Maybe it didn't sound quite right with the finished product?

In any case, I absolutely loved Fire on Fire. Still listening to it and drawing to it, it's so lovely. Definitely fits the tone and memorable imo.
The lyrics don't really fit the movie in a literal sense, it would have made more sense to have lyrics that pertain to overcoming fear, or something else related to the series, but since it's in the credits that's not as big of a deal.

Some lines I can get for WD, like the "When we fight we fight like lions" part, like they're essentially fighting to survive and whatever, but most of the song just feels too romance-y for the series imo. I mean Brit said it might make a lot more sense watching the video for the song, but idk still feels like that for me

I stopped playing the programme before the song started for both parts.

EDIT: Just to say that that comment isn't saying because it's so awful -- I've only listened to it that once to have not developed a better opinion of it -- I just meant that it stopped because the programme part had stopped and people weren't interesting in watching the credits. So no Fire On Fire just for that reason.

Will try the song out again on YT soon.

Or it ends up as one of those songs that's like, "That was written for that thing? Huh." Which, given how little the song has to do with WD wouldn't surprise me too much. Even Bright Eyes is like that at times.

I wouldn't blame anyone honestly. While I do think a few lines of Fire On Fire fit, I just feel like it's more or less fitting just like maybe a pairing or something rather than the whole series in my honest opinion unlike Bright Eyes where it does feel like it belongs there.

Normally I don't listen and don't like that kind of music, but I totally love this song. Maybe lyrics doesn't match to WD but whenever I hear Fire of Fire feel such a strong WD vibe and it works on me emotionally. Even though lyrics rather doesn't match to Watership Down I can associate it with many scenes and threds from miniseries.
