This thread contains a question AND a glare at a certain website.
Which image hosting website would you recommend?
You might have heard about the Photobucket upset of recent times. I only discovered this the other day when I noticed that my pictures on another forum were not showing up any more, and in place, a grey box message about having to update in order to have the images show. A little investigation further and it seems that you have to suddenly pay a lot of money a year to embed the images on external sites! From completely free one day to $$$ the next - eurgh! I haven't looked yet, but I expect if I opened up my art thread on here that my pictures would be replaced, as well. Now ugly, grey box-filled threads! However, if I have understood correctly at all, pasting the link into another site would still work? I think it only has removed the ability to embed images. Have not tested.
I wasn't using the site too much these days, but it was so useful my images on the odd forum rather than having clickable links. I joined Photobucket a long time ago - I suppose 2003? - and do have a heck of a lot of images on there which I am now considering deleting most of them (and having to save some back on to a computer - yay, that will take up a lot of time...). I have noticed over the years that it was lagging like heck for any web browser or computer I went on, with many dodgy adverts coming up, which also put me off using it much the last few years. But as I said, it did have its little use...
...Which other, more modern websites have, right? What would be my best bet for switching to? I want to make sure images I do upload will be as secure as one can be with these sites. I liked the locked albums/privacy setting on the other site. Preferably one that doesn't lag!! and will work on my older computers, and won't vanish in so many days, etc. I am a bit behind the times with these things, clearly demonstrated by my still using Photobucket at all.

Thanks for any input.
