WSD Nicknames
« on: October 25, 2019, 12:46:25 AM »
Any good nicknames for WSD characters?  I think we owe it to them.  Not only is a nickname cute, but can be life saving.  Sometimes saying their full name is just too long (Thethuthinnang your tails on fire!)  Other times a new name could chase off a Thousand (Here comes the Clovernator!)

So any clever names we can helpfully thrust upon them?

Ermmm, if we break up her name in parts, Thethuthinnang could be...

'The' !

or

'Nang'

as

'Thuthin' is a bit lispy. :D

I would honestly pay for a copy of Watership Down where everything is the same but Clover’s name is changed to the Clovernator.

Honestly I vibe that nicknames would work best with Lapine names. Like Hrairoo being shortened to Roo. Very cute, if just an awkward note that he is tiny.

Lucky for you, I actually have a copy of that edition.  It was printed exclusively in California back in 2003 to celebrate the Governator coming to office.  This has to be my favorite line from it:

Quote
Was there no simple, plain idea that might get them-or some of them-on the move?  He turned to The Clovernator.

I think Roo would work good as a nickname like Junior, like if Bigwig had a son he also named Bigwig.  Thethuthinnang maybe needs to just translate her name back to English, and her nickname could be Leaves.

Thethutinnang is just that one rabbit with a long name.

I call my rabbit clover cloves sometimes, but I guess that doesn't make it any shorter.

dandelion could be called Dandy

Buckthorn- Invasive specie in the United States.

I call The Black Rabbit of Inlé, Brofi for short but I can't remember if I was the one who thought of it or @Myrkin . Probably was Myrkin and I just liked and adopted it  :inle-series

I sometimes affectionately call Vervain, Vervie  :vervain2

Sometimes I call Clover The Love of my Life, but it’s not really a nickname if it’s longer, right?

We let people get away with "Ellen" being called "Nellie", what's hrair more letters?

I think Hyz3n$l@y would make a great gamer tag for when the warren finally plugs in that Atari 2600.  Which now makes me want to give everyone one.

A few years ago I was watching the WD 1978 movie with my younger brother Grant, and it was the scene where Bigwig was being mean to Fiver at Cowslip's warren.
Grant said, "I don't like Buttwig. He's a jerk."
I thought it was the funniest thing ever. Now Bigwig's nick name is Buttwig.

^ Haha! Didn't notice Chib's response before now. :D

And haha to 'Buttwig'. XD

Hmm... maybe Haze is quite fun for Hazel. Just one letter less, but still.
