Bluebell and Hazel

Still confused about Hazel's dislike of Bluebell.

I was actually trying to find all the Hazel-Bluebell lymrics in the book, but could only find the slug one and the one they hum about Holly.

The only other one I can think of at the moment:

"An idea we found along the way." (talking about the Honeycomb, inspired by the great chamber at Cowslip's warren)
"Lying in a field."

I think the Holly one ended with "sitting with his rump in a chicory clump...and pining for a nice plump doe".

I guess it's just something brought up in the book, but doesn't play much in the story same with Kehaar's dislike for smart rabbits like Blackberry.

Hazel was more impatient with Bluebell than anything. When they found Holly, Holly was injured and exhausted and they were caught out in the open at night without a burrow to get into. Hazel was concerned that they would attract predators and that they wouldn't be able to get Holly to safety before they were attacked. It wouldn't have been a natural situation to tolerate jokes and larking around, even if Bluebell's intention had been to encourage Holly to keep going until they were safe.

Certainly not many rabbits like jokes, that's the idea they give me ... Although Holly helped him to move on, it was a good incentive. Hazel does not seem to be a good follower of Bluebell in any case, however he is part of his group and burrow, so he tries to protect them like all his own.

I agree with Kili about the incident, with Holly.  Hazel had no way of knowing that Holly enjoyed Bluebell's jokes.  Many other rabbits probably wouldn't have appreciated them (especially under these circumstances), asking Bluebell to stop was the right thing to do

But it seems that Hazel gets impatient at Bluebell several times afterwards too, even in lighter situations.  For example, when Bluebell suggests that Bigwig disguises himself as a hrududu and drive across the field with the does he gets a blunt "shut up" from Hazel

I suppose everyone has their favourite rabbits, and least favourites (earlier in the book, it is implied that Hazel doesn't like Hawkbit very much either )
