Klaus is really good and deserved to win for technical accomplishment alone, but as I predicted, Toy Story 4 won because that's how awards shows go.  I mean, you're already way ahead of the people actually voting, who often haven't watched any of these things.

Klaus is my favorite on the list too. I did think Toy Story 4 would win since like you said these award shows aren't the fairest. But I remember reading something about I lost my body receiving lots of recognition during the Oscar race.

Missing Link won the Golden Globes which surprised me.

I haven't seen a single one of these...

But Toy Story 4 predictably won :/

A win by default, the best kind of win.

Eh, I suppose...

Still, it kinda stinks for the films by smaller studios that don't have a chance, no matter how great they may be.

It really is. All because judges can't be assed to watch all the movies. Or  even care about them.

I have heard about award shows splitting the votes for Disney and that is the only reason why sometimes other studios win. I don't think that's the case most of the time because in the previous Oscars Into the Spider Verse was so much better than the two Disney/Pixar films that year: Incredibles 2 and Wrecked Ralph breaks the internet.

I thought Frozen 2 would be on this list not because it was amazing but because it was Disney. That took me by surprise there.

I think it doesn't qualify because of when it was released? Maybe?

Wasn't it released at about the same time as Klaus? Anyway, Frozen 2 definitely doesn't deserve to be on the list. It really wasn't a good film.

Klaus is actually the only one I saw from that list and despite not being that charmed by it, the technique is interesting and some parts were touching. It's just not something I feel inclined to watch again.
