Is the Simpsons still ongoing?

Yep.  Still ongoing.

Wow
That stopped being good years ago then...

I was thinking about it since I recently saw a video about what ruined Homer as a character and they made some good points. I used to watch the early seasons a lot and my brother and I actually reference them a lot but I saw a few newer episodes and they just didn't do it for me anymore.

I'm amazed FOX own the rights until 2082.

It is a living dead series, a zombie series! It has not been funny, or good characters for 10 or 15 seasons, but they keep doing it because it seems that it is still profitable. Not worth it.

I stopped watching it years ago and I only see documentaries or reports of how the series worsens every year. So far the worst episode he has is that of the infamous "Lady Gaga" and her shameless endorsement. An empty and not funny episode. Where Lisa is more selfish than ever.
It is the worst thing to see.   :blackberry4 :blackberry4    :sarcasm

I stopped watching maaaany series back. When I catch a few seconds of the episodes from the last ten plus years it just seems so wooden, so empty, in comparison to the earlier ones.
Here lies a signature that has little point.

After so long, it's to be expected that it's not as good as it used to be.  The problem is that they just keep going and producing bad episodes, rather than ending on a high note.  And they won't be stopping as long as people keep watching and it's profitable...

One day, I'll probably have to check out the earlier seasons, before it decayed.

Sometimes I sit down and watch it if it's on TV, and usually it's new episodes they air which really feels bland or as Meadow puts it "wooden"

Disney seems to want to get people more into the Simpsons since now they own it. Pixar's Onward aired a Simpson's short before the movie in theaters. I remember mostly during the short it was dead silent besides a few chuckles from a dad who was probably in his 30s. I'm not sure if there are a lot of kids today who are into the Simpsons.

It must be a series that is still profitable for it to continue in broadcast. It's lousy and not worth it compared to its golden years with the original writers.
And I heard that they want to reach 40 seasons ... Bad idea.  :blackavar

The Simpsons has basically fallen off a cliff in terms of popularity with audiences.

They just want to stay relevant even though they've run out of ideas for good episodes, nobody's going to look back in 5 years and say that the last 5 seasons of the show was in anyway memorable like the early seasons of the show.

I still watch it when I can, and still like the episodes as they have good commentary on current social issues. One problem I do have though is changing the background of the characters slightly so that Homer and Marge where teenagers in the 90's instead of in the 70's. That's just weird. I can understand why they've done that but it's not as good as it used to be. That episode (very early on in the show) where there is a yo-yo craze happened when I was about 9 or 10 because kids at my primary school went made for them, which shows its age. At least it's not vulgar like a lot of 'adult' cartoons like South Park, Family Guy and King of the Hill, and that's probably what's maintained its popularity.
