An anime called One Outs.
Tokuchi Toua, a highly intelligent gambler, specialises in a game called One Outs, a variant of baseball where the batter tries to hit the pitcher's throw to the outfield, both betting money on it. One day, the star batter of the Lycaons sees the potential in Tokuchi to bring his team to the championships, and offers him to join the team.
Because Tokuchi is the way that he is, he suggests an unusual contract to the owner of the Lycaons, who is more interested in making money than the team winning. For every out he pitches, he earns 5 million yen, for every run he gives up, he pays the owner 50 million yen.
Throughout the matches that he plays in, he uses psychological tricks, convoluted plans and other methods to outsmart his opponents and win.
I knew next to nothing about baseball before I watched the show, even then, I still love it.
