Fire on Fire
« on: December 20, 2018, 07:35:28 PM »
The (in)famous song that will appear in the end credits of the miniseries.  Part of it could be heard in a trailer; reception has been almost exclusively negative so far.  Now the entire song has been released:

It's not as bad as I expected, but it's no Bright Eyes.

A music video will be released on 22 December, along with the first part on the BBC.

I'm not a fan. It sounds too romantic compared to the soothing masterpiece done by Art Garfuncle.
Does anyone know if the music video will be a series of clips from the miniseries or something new.

It does not sound that bad, but Bright Eyes is still the most epic and memorable song of all Watership Down. It's beautiful, in any of his tunes. This song is typical of its adaptation.   :fiver
I love Watership Down!

Everything is fine =) (?)

Sam Smith is a musician who needs help to write his songs.

I'll have a listen tomorrow. I finally saw the series advertised on TV today and the animation looked worse seeing it on a big TV rather than just on laptop screen, I'm sorry to say. Still hoping for redeeming qualities :D

That's pretty disappointing :/ It must have been really bad on the giant screen at BFI...

Any new footage in this ad?

Don't think so... it was quite a short trailer

I think all those reviews you've posted haven't been entirely won over by the animation, so we can't really expect much more from it. Just have to try and look past it to see how we appreciate the other elements of it...

It was perhaps that 30-second clip that first showed up at the beginning of the month then.

Yeah, nobody likes the animation, it seems :/ I haven't seen any real complaints about the voice work though.

Well, I'm honestly not really convinced by Hazel and Woundwort's voices, from what I've heard in the trailers.  It's still a bit early for me to say for sure though..

After all these years, it's almost there...less than two days to go...hopefully you'll still be able to watch it soon though, Meadow :)

Does anyone know if the music video will be a series of clips from the miniseries or something new.
@CockatielPony the article that mentioned the music video didn't say.  I have the feeling it might just be Sam Smith singing surrounded with fire...

It does not sound that bad, but Bright Eyes is still the most epic and memorable song of all Watership Down. It's beautiful, in any of his tunes.
Bright Eyes just can't be surpassed :glowingfiver

THE MUSIC VIDEO IS OUT

Lots of new clips here.  The running animation is great, I think, and I love that slow-motion Kehaar, but there are also some pretty bad scenes, sadly...

That song did nothing for me. Generic crap. And he can't sing.

This makes me want to watch the series so bad now.

I Like 2:48, Bigwig crawling out of the warren after fighting Woundwort. It looks like he received some serious damage.

A lot of it is running, Run rabbit run!

I do agree with you Chipster, the Kehaar flying scene it epic, it reminds me of the storm scene from legend of the Guardians.

I actually don't mind the song too much; it's not quite as dire as these articles are making out! However, I can see it being pretty forgettable, and as Hawkbit said, it's kind of generic.

Also, it doesn't really fit in with the music video/clips for me.

I bet the record company's release it as a single and he makes money.
