What Watership Down means to me
« on: June 15, 2017, 01:36:29 PM »

Hello everyone.

I would like to say that I am proud not only to live in England which is famed for Watership Down but to know of such a marvelous animation from the 1970s.

The animation in the movie is breathtaking considering it was done hand-drawn on a frame by frame basis and the the colour scheme just amazing to look at.

I am also pleased by the amazing actors they cast as the voices since a lot of them are now legends in their own right.

I must also say that Angela Morley's film score has got the right musical instrumentals for the parts of the movie in which they appear and Mike Batt's composition of Bright Eyes when sung by Art Garfunkel is hauntingly amazing.

Well that's how I feel about the movie and what it means to me. :)

It was part of the film so when I first saw the violence, I had no issue with it for it was handled well and appropriately used for the telling of the story.

For my part, I have a deep respect for it, because it is an excellent work and interpretation in the life of wild rabbits. Intelligent, witty and well developed. Both the book and the film are works of art that will never die and will always be in my heart.

I believe that Watership Down regardless of the release is in the hearts of fans from England and abroad as a story that pushed the boundary in Children's movies.

Magic's first post is really interesting; I agree with most of what it says.  The WD film really is one of the best animated films of all time.

Watership Down helped shape my childhood and although every child I knew was terrified of it, I loved it as I could tell from a young age it always told a moving and real story.

Watership Down is very special to me. It introduced that animated animal movies don't have to be aimed for a young audience and are able to tell a deep story by using the wonderful style and backgrounds. I also became very interested in animated dramas ecspecial the ones staring animals such as animal farm, the plague dogs and more. I also became more interested in reading.

Same here. :D Watership down became an introduction to many works of animation, stories, etc. I've never heard of at the moment and gave me a better understanding of how stories such as Watership down may be expressed through the eyes of those involved without sugar coating in a way. :) *Hugs with Loving Nuzzles*  :silverweed3
