Black Rabbit of Inle in the series?
« on: September 01, 2011, 01:59:20 AM »
I've actually never watched the cartoon series. I'm sort of afraid to, because I've cherished the movie and book my whole life and I don't want to mess up my perceptions and feelings about the characters or story... I might change my mind though. Anyway, I've noticed a number of people talking about how awesome the Black Rabbit apparently is in the series, and now I'm curious. I can't find any clips of what it looks like on youtube on my own. Can anyone tell me what episode(s) it appears so I can see it? Thanks!

The black rabbit first appears in season 3 episode 1. My jaw dropped, I NEVER expected something THAT AWESOME in the series. The black rabbit alone made me take everything I ever said before I watched the series back.

Just watch the show. Disregard anything bad you've heard about it and just watch it.

Coming from a fan of the film, the Black Rabbit is presented very differently in season 3 than the film.  The way he was portrayed in the series is more the Black Rabbit I thought I would see because the rabbits always talk of him, and shake and quaver because they are scared of him.  He doesn't sound like a nice rabbit.  Therefore when I saw him in season 3, he is of the sinister mind, and does things his way, and to hell with what you feel about it.  Just a better representation of the character from my interpretation of the book. ;)

Thanks to Keith for the episode. I went and watched that scene. Pretty cool! I really liked his design in the movie. This seemed a bit more typically "evil."

And I may watch the series... everyone on here seems to support it so it must be pretty good. I really don't want it to change my perceptions of the characters too much. I mean, the story in the series isn't anything created by Richard Adams, is it?

It takes creative liberties with Adams' story.  Season 1 is the closest to remaining true to the story.  Season 2 generally finishes up the remainder of the plot lines from the story with their own creative twists on some things.  Season 3 outside of perhaps the first episode bears no resemblance to the book.  Funnily, season 3 was one of the best ones...when they weren't trying to adapt to the plot of the book.

Yeah! The Black Rabbit is one of my favourite characters in the tv series and one of the main reasons why I like the third session so much.

His appearance is completely different to the movie or the books.

But the demonic kind is very becoming to it.

The black rabbit is what made me forgive the ending of the series.

Demonic Black Rabbit was certainly redeeming and fitting for the Lord of Death in the rabbit world. :)
