I dreamed about the miniseries last night.
The miniseries was suddenly released on Netflix without any prior announcement, and before airing on BBC One. The opening is similar to that of
another BBC series although it is in colour. The names go by too fast for me to pay attention, but it lists the actors who voice Hazel, Fiver, Bigwig, Woundwort, Clover and Strawberry. Then it speeds up and shows two names in quick succession, one for Hyzenthlay and I don't know about the other.
It is important to note that the intro is in 2D animation, and that all characters are shown with the same fur patterns as in the 1999 series (except Hyzenthlay who looks like her film counterpart, although that doesn't prevent several Primrose look-alikes from appearing). However, their bodies are proportioned differently from the 1999 series: their paws are shorter. Also the textures used on their fur gives the illusion of seeing the individual strands of fur. It looks terrible.
The first episode starts with a few rabbits on a boat. Fiver is hysterical, Bigwig shouts at him and Hazel (who has a female voice) tries to calm his brother down. While at Sandleford Scabious does not appear despite being listed on IMDb. At the end of the episode, everyone is at Cowslip's warren, Cowslip himself runs away and Strawberry sings.
The second episode starts with Silverweed NOT reciting his poem. The main characters keep running. Periodically, the narrator reminds us that Holly and Bluebell are dead, until the very end when he announces that, despite popular belief, they are NOT dead, and they both say something really crazy. Also we periodically see Buckthorn and his mate Haystack nibbling the grass; Buckthorn remains silent and Haystack only has one or two lines.
Before going to bed, I check the reviews for the miniseries. The general consensus is that it is good, but it could have been much better.
