Hatoful Boyfriend, or the Date-A-Bird sim

Okay, I actually had a lot of trouble deciding whether or not to post this in the video game area if it's a dating sim, but I feel like it sorta works?

Anyway, I'm sure you've all heard about the weirdest dating simulator of all time - Hatoful Boyfriend. If you don't know, all the boys you can seduce are birds because most of the human race was wiped out when a virus have birds intelligence. You, the player, are a young girl sent to a prestigious bird school because they feel like it'll be a good start to solving the bird-human war. That's a quick run down.

I created this post to see if anyone's even dabbled in the game. Probably not. Datinh sims aren't for most people, heck, even I wasn't entirely sure when my friend suggested I buy it because I thought dating sims sounded stupid. It's completely cool if you ignore this post forever and go on your merry way. I'm just interested to see if anyone's played it.

Honestly, I'd totally recommend it. It's a fun game at first, but pretty much all of the otome routes are heartbreaking, and the BBL route is even more so. The sequel actually had me in tears. It's so different and whacky but it'll rip your heart out and stomp on it (I'm looking at you, Nageki's route).

But yeah. Weird post.

I haven't played it yet but this post reminded me that it's in my library on PS4. I'd forgotten I got it when it was the free PS+ game of the month.

I should give it a shot some time. Are there a lot of different routes to choose from?

Just don't ruin it like in the Sims video games.

Yep. There's lots. I think there's 12 main routes, including the ones with slight variations like Shuu and Azami. But really the game gets good on the BBL route, which is unlockable after 100% completion.

I had never heard of this game before seeing this thread.

I might check it out.  The concept is really unusual, but that would probably add to the fun of playing it :)
