Rosie,
The staff and I have decided that we will not be doing member awards in any shape or form. There are a few reasons why we will not do this on FHC, even if other boards/forums do so:
1.) We are too small a community. We do not have enough active members to make this really worthwhile.
2.) People have a tendency to work for awards to win them, and then go back to their normal selves once they do. This would be akin to me working towards a Watership Down fanart award when everyone here knows I don't draw rabbits, win the award because I work my butt off to do so, and then never draw another rabbit again. That would be very unfair to those who actually are good at drawing rabbits and do that all the time!
3.) People turn into sourpusses when they lose/don't understand why they weren't picked despite being qualified. People hate to lose and there's going to be hurt feelings no matter how much people may think "members here aren't like that!"
4.) Along the same lines, people tend to choose friends to win awards. We don't need that clique stuff here.
Just so its known, this was not a solo decision by me; this received four "no" votes from active staff here on FHC, which constitutes a majority of the staff.
