Real Watership Down in danger?

Looks like somebody has a big building project, which involves making hundreds of new homes in countryside area of Sandleford and Watership Down.

I'm part of a WSD group, and I've seen this crop up quite a bit.  Watership Down itself is privately owned so the down is safe from development.  Sandleford is really where all this potential housing could crop up (just like in the film).  I think because we all know the place because of the book, we automatically clamor and say "No way, build somewhere else."  If this place was just the area of Sandleford with no popular book to ride the rails of, would anyone still care?  Fact is I think its plainly obvious that Britain will be building houses somewhere....just where now....

My two cents...I surely don't want Watership developed, and I think just because of where it is, it won't be.  But people need homes.....you can't cram them all into the big cities.

I don't live in Britiain, but I hear that there's not a whole lot wildlife areas and countryside left That disgusts me! So I'm all for protecting whatever countryside is left in Britain.

I've gone ahead and signed that petition. That is terrible. I swear never long there won't be any countryside left in the world, everyone seems so development-crazy these days.

I might not always post, but trust me- I'm often online.

^ So it seems...maybe the bigger issue is how many people want their own mansion on a hill rather than living close nearby to their neighbor.  Its not like the Sandleford area is bustling with industry, or many individuals.
