No, I'm not a new User. You all know me by the name Silverwolf.

I asked Myrkin for permission to change my username. Why did I do this?

Silverwolf is a name, I've used often in the past. It bothers me a little bit. I wanted to use a nick, that's related to Watership Down. And as a huge fan of Kenneth Oppels Silverwing-books, a Batman-Fan, child of the night and so on, Darkling from Watership Down is a really cool character for me.

So I've decided to take his name :)

I love the Silverwing books. The third one was the best :) The tv movies are pretty cool, too!

I know, right. Although that last bit did almost give me a heart attack... D:
I should watch the show, I should. It's the animation that annoys me...it's rather strange...but I should talk about strange animation with someone who doesn't know I'm obsessed with Watership Down...

I haven't picked up those Silverwing books in a long time...I sort of remember the first one.  Can't for the life of me remember what the sequels were like.  That animated show was weird....I don't get the character designs having bats with locks of human hair.... :o

Anyway, cool call on the name, and I'll get used to it in time. :)

I'm not familiar with Silverwing books and I don't know much about them (other what I've just read on Wikipedia). How good/interesting are they?

Oh, and nice choice of name. ;)

Like I said, I only recall the first book where Shade has to go on the journey and finds Miranda (or Marinara...I don't know, its something like that) and the jungle bats.  If I read the sequels at all, I've forgotten about them.  I think the tv series based on the first book is on youtube.   I remember watching that, and it was weird seeing bats with human hair.  Close to the books....I think it was relatively close overall.  I didn't recall any big differences.

Only the main plot was the same:

SPOILER AHEAD!!

Shade watched the sunrise
The owls burnt their home
Cannibal bats appear and kill owls
The Silverwings are outlawed
The Silverwings search their new hibernaculum

In the movies, there is a fight with Goth in a mine. In the end, there's war between the animals. Nothing of that happens in the books. But it's set in the timeline of the first two books.

Would you recommend to read those books or watch the movie/tvseries?

READ THE BOOKS! Now, so there are more Silverwing fans! I don't know really, I'd have to watch the show. (And currently the only show I actually have the energy to watch is Watership Down. Believe me, I have a list of shows I want to watch and haven't.)

(BTW, nice avatar, Darkling!)

Books and Movies are hardly comparable.

But of course, the books are definitely better

Edit: Thanks, Keeralie  :)

I took the liberty to add a last name to my nick.

I use the same alias on my website, so I've decided to use it here also.
