The Story of El-ahrairah and The Black Rabbit of Inle?
« on: April 18, 2011, 08:43:33 PM »
I was searching through google to see if there were any other Watership Down books written and I came across two books written in 1980 called The Story of El-ahrairah and The Black Rabbit of Inle.

I'm new to the Watership Down series, so if these books existed or not, I would not know. So could somebody clear this up for me if Richard Adams actually wrote these short stories? I've only heard of Watership Down and Tales from Watership Down before. :frustrated

The Phoenix Tree (1980, a collection by various authors, includes "The Story of El-ahrairah and the Black Rabbit of Inle" from Watership Down) ISBN 9780380763801

So what you heard is a basic retelling of the stories from the original novel as part of a compilation.

I knew that, but on (also) Wikipedia, it had both of these mentioned as books written the same year by him.

Haven't seen such information or come across it.  Remember what I say about wikipedia and how we treat that site on the GOF. ;) ;)

Well, short stories are just that....short tales.  The tales we heard in the original novel of Watership Down easily classify as short stories of their own.
