Which do you prefer? The movie or the television series?

Which do members like better? The feature film or the television series remake/interquel.

I voted for the TV series. Episodes 1 through 4, 6, are okay, but 5, 7,8 and 12 through 39 are the ones I prefer. The episodes I mentioned were more intersting to me than the movie, but for 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, I prefer the movie. But the television series is still my favorite.

Don't even know if you can compare the two, the film was made with lots of blood and gore and the series had tame combat at best. It's too hard for me to pick and choose for this, but the movie got me into it all so I'll say that

I wouldn't like to compare movies and series in categories of "I like more the former/the latter". Both have something that appeal to me. I decided to vote for the movie only because I saw it first entirely, like Campion.

I agree with Campion and Myrkin here....apples to oranges comparison.  The movie fit the darker tone of the book, but the series had more time to describe the story and didn't have to cut out so much.  A film always has to make cuts to make the story work.

Regardless, I voted for the film...just kept to the tone of the book better than the series.

I agree, even though there were some inconsistencies with the book (like doe Violet being part of Hazel's group ot Blackavar's death), but that's what usually happens with movie adaptations. ;)

well yeah what did you expect its a cartoon kids show not a hyper violent japanese cg rendition

Well no what it didn't make up for in ridiculous violence and blood it made up for in suspense and story (at least in my mind) and they weren't afraid to use words like "kill" and "death" a few times. Third season just upped it

^That's one reason I preferred the series.

On the subject of words they weren't afraid to use, was it just me or did Hawkbit curse when he was digging in The Easy Life? I heard him start yelling in pain, and then I heard what sounded like "damn" afterwards.

^ I never said that. :p

Strange things are often found in animated shows though....never know...maybe it slipped out.

I watched that scene and I think that he only said "Ouch" and "I think, I broke a nail".

To me it sounded like he said "Ow! That damn nail!"

It was on youtube, and not the official DVDs, so it may have been the sound quality, but I had my half-brother watch the scene, he heard the same thing, so did my parents.

"I think I broke a nail" is what I heard.  Maybe someone edited your clip or something.

I watched it from DVD and it's still "I think I broke a nail".

I've listened to that spot...Hawkbit clearly doesn't say "damn" anywhere.
