Wolf's Rain
« on: July 27, 2014, 10:15:11 PM »
I'll bring this one up while its on my mind.  Anyone seen this series?  You think WSD or Plague Dogs is sad...try to watch the last episode of the series without crying.  You care too much by the end.  :exactly

Anyway, I'm trying not to spoil it.  I figure the series is set in the future, and outside of cities, a lot of surrounding areas are wastelands, and only the wealthy have true safety and security.  Nobody can find "paradise" in these conditions, thus it is, wolves take on a journey hoping to unlock paradise for all again.  Most humans believe its just a story, a myth, and that there is no hope for paradise.  If you manage to watch the entire series (and you have to watch one after the other or lose the storyline) it makes you think about the world as a whole.  You'll be asking yourself what really paradise is, and if paradise can exist.  Pretty deep for a tv series.

The animation is hand drawn, and this was created before CGI really took off.  I like the music and it fits.  Its one of the only anime series I've bothered to sit down and watch.  I've seen episodes on youtube in English; I found an old fansub years ago on some download site that is pretty close to the English version on youtube.  Its not cheap to purchase which is terribly unfortunate (but standard practice for Japanese media).

I haven't seen it, but I've been wanting to watch it. Ever since I watched Princess Mononoke, wolves became cool. And then I saw a few clips from this show and I wanted to watch it. Just never got around to it.

Wolf's Rain is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The world, characters, story...I watched the whole thing 3 times, and I will do it a couple more times for sure.
The other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree.

The series was really god (especially, because I love wolves), but it has it's flaws. The filling episodes are bothering and the series is too long. Then, there is material often used again.

But the finale is great!

I am always looking for movies and stuff with or about wolves, especially animated things. So far Wolf's Rain is still my fave. Along with the Okami game.

I've seen it, the Balto story is touching. The last wolf related movie I saw was "Ookami Kodomo - wolf children". A strong story packed in pretty pictures. There are quite a few I could recoment...

Same^^ I've watched twice already as well and I got the DVDs for it. Though I am missing the final DVD, the one with the true ending on it.

Wolf's Rain is definitely one of my favourites. :)

It is a very good series, but with a very strange ending. I did not understand, but the OST is beautiful!

I love Watership Down!

Everything is fine =) (?)

The "real" ending is on episode 30.  Some dvd collections only have 26 episodes.  If you have 30 episodes on your collection, then you saw the final ending.

Spoiler below:

Spoiler: ShowHide
If you saw the real ending (after episode 30), all the wolves died, and Kiba managed to unlock paradise for the wolves and the humans as the world is reborn, but Darcia poisoned paradise, thus assuring that someone or something will mess it up again.  The wolves' reincarnated forms are in the city at the end when you see them around town, and eventually they will be called to unlock paradise again when the world is again down in the dumps!

Okay then I have, but why would they not include the last 4 those are the best episodes.

Anyway who's your favorite wolf's rain character?
I like blue and toboe

Not sure if that's the reason but the final 4 episodes were realized as OVA's directly on DVD in Japan and weren't included in the original run on TV so maybe that's why?

I liked all the wolves but Blue was probably my fav^^ Heh talking about it makes me want to watch the series again. It's been a while since my last watch. :)
