What are you reading?
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:49:59 AM »
I just read Fyodor Dostoevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov" Good philosophy stuff.

I'm currently reading JRR Tolkien's "Roverandom" which is a short story about a dog who bites a wizard so he gets turned into a tiny toy dog. He then meets a sand sorcerer who blows sand out of his nose when ever he says the letter 'P' The dog then gets sent to the Man-in-the-Moon (another wizard) who creates dreams out of sheer boredom or something. Sounds pretty wild right? It is. It's my 1st Tolkien but I also plan on reading the Hobbit this summer.

I'm starting to read James Joyce's "Ulysses" and as a joke I think it would amuse me to hear someone with a response to this. It took me an hour to read 4 pages around the 40 page mark as I had to look up 6 words ( 2 in German) and 2 french phrases to go along with his cryptic allusions and intermittent abstraction. I also had to read about consubstantiation and a completely made up musing of a word in "contransmagnificandjewbang" A record patience for me was displayed as usually I end up putting the book if its over my head, but I'll keep at it.

(sigh)
