Watership Down coming to Blu-Ray - Feb. 2015

For those of us in the United States, WSD is getting a blu-ray release at last.  It comes with new interviews, and apparently a new HD transfer.  Given that its coming from Criterion, it will be done right--this company does not mess around when it comes to releasing classic movies.  

I believe our friends in Europe already have a blu-ray release but its region locked so its no good for us across the pond.  I'm totally psyched about this.     Anyone else?

No scratching blu-rays now.  They are expensive to buy.  Hopefully after Christmas between a gift card to amazon.com and rewards points from my credit card, I should be able to get this new release entirely for free.

The only bad thing is the Blu Ray regions. I'm from America and the Blue Ray of Watership Down is in Europe. No way to see in my country. Only in the region multy DVD I own. =/

Isn't blu-ray region coding putting North America and South America as one code (Code A)?  I would think it would play for you.  I know this release isn't of much use to Europeans unless they have a multi-region player, but for us in the states we've been waiting for this!

Just to share, I got my blu-ray in and it looks amazing!  I've never seen a better copy of Watership Down.  People have said that it looks like the same transfer from the German blu-ray so anyone in a "B" region can purchase the German version and see the film in HD goodness if they can't watch the Criterion version.

I posted my review on amazon in hopes of getting a lot of people to step up and buy it and retire at least their old Warner DVD copy.  That Australian DVD just has that awesome interview that goes into all that detail about the making of the film.

Had the old snapper DVD (give it away to a friend) and have the special edition DVD. The Blu-ray would tempt me yet for making some HD-screenshots for my desktop And of course to watch the movie in better quality

I can't do anything with blu-rays on my computer, unless I get an external drive or get a new computer.  HD screenshots would be the first thing I'd do.

Decided to stay with my Special Edition DVD. The german BD-version of the movie shouldn't a really better picture than the DVD. The Criterion BD has a new master, so the quality should be far better than our release here in Germany. Also, the extras of the Criterion release is missing and because the Criterion disk is region locked, I can't watch it in Germany.

Okay so help me out here. I am not really into technology so I have a regular DVD player. A blu-ray won't PLAY on it, right, unless I get a player that specifically can play a Blu ray. I just have regular DVDs
