I would say, this episode is better than the first one (not much, but a bit). The weasel is a cool enemy. The fact, that the rabbits work now together with the other animals is a good start for the solidarity, that will make Watership Down so strong in the following episodes.

And of course we have Captain Holly, who finally reaches Watership Down. So, despite to the lame start of the series, the quality of the series is discemible.

The weasel is a cool enemy.

Yes, although it would be cooler if he was allowed to do some damage to our heroes (like leave a few scratchers on their body). Most of the time he attacks rabbits, he is easily pushed around by them and he doesn't lay a claw on any of them. Producers could have made him seem more dangerous by letting him injure some of rabbits or at least show him to be able to fight one-on-one against adult rabbit, who would have to be rescued by others. If not that, then they could have allowed him to succeed at catching at least one non-Watership Down animal to make him look like an actual threat (IIRC he has never been very good at hunting, at least on-screen).

The beginnings of that solidarity aren't easy, with Bigwig, Hawkbit and Dandelion being defenders of rabbits traditional gender roles ("Bucks don't dig!").  

By the way... When Bigwig says aforementioned sentence and Hannah asks "What's so good about bucks that they don't dig?" Blackbbery does something that looks like... I don't know... spitting to the ground? Is it supposed to be a frustrated sigh?

I don't know. I noticed that occasionally in the series. Maybe our rabbits have privily a sadistic vein?

Now that you mention it in the series are very few fights and little lookout for predators. In this episode was dramatic open a quarrel between Bigwig and weasel, albeit short. But we saw just pushing, ground attack and picks by yona. Not bad anyway and poor Fiver was sad most of the episode Awwwww.

Yay, Captain Holly is here! I liked him in the film and I like him here too. Although again, I wish the TV series had started off at Sandleford Warren, as it lessens the emotional impact a bit when the rabbits learn of the destruction of their home, when we never got to see what their home was like. Obviously they couldn't make it as graphic as it was in the film, but it still felt like part of the story was missing.

Ah well. I did enjoy the "bucks don't dig" subplot, and it was nice to see Hazel standing up for Blackberry.

They took away the emotional impact of seeing a known rabbit from a burrow doomed to destruction. Holly told the story, but at least they were able to put in some not too graphic images to illustrate us.
Can you imagine that the story had started in Sandleford in the cartoon series? It would have been older but cool, but creative decisions changed this for the exciting adventures of bunnies digging XD
It is notorious how great scenes like these are changed for other more entertaining or full of humor, among them the filler. The good news is that they fixed that in season 3.
Even so I continue to enjoy each of the episodes of the series.

That weasel has to be the most incompetent elil ever; doesn't even manage to scratch anyone It is possible that he killed all the rabbits in the burrow that later became the Honeycomb but since then he's become substantially worse at hunting

Holly, we see him wandering throughout the episode, calling out for the Watershippers The wind really does carry every whisper, as Bigwig finds out the hard way We only find out Holly's identity at the very end, although his anguished cry waking up Fiver who was dreaming about him was a nice touch That final scene with him was handled well, and sets the stage for one of the best quotes of the series, courtesy of Hazel: "We do what our ancestors did before us: we go on, Fiver" Or something like that, I forgot the exact wording

Too bad Holly largely vanishes after the next episode...

The digging subplot was decent, it's nice to see Blackberry in a major role for once

The part with the weasel did seem kinda silly. But I can give it a pass since it's only the beginning of the series and they needed a 'starter villain' of sorts for the episode.

The "starter villain" theory is interesting.  The weasel does provide a minor threat, before getting to more interesting (and dangerous) ones
