I know, that this episode is important for the further story, but I can't help calling this a bit lame. The whole journey to Redstone wasn't done very good in my opinion. OK, we have the great song "Thank You Stars". It's also nice, that Fiver think, he's responsible for his visions because of Hawkbit.

But it's all a bit lame, in my opinion. That could've be done better.

Well, while "The Vision" isn't especially good nor doesn't it do anything that unique nor interesting to watch, I think that there are far worse places to be (or episodes to watch, to be exact). I didn't quite get the sudden obsession that Primrose seemed to have to re-visit the place that held so many bad memories for her, but the rest of the episode -Fiver's ordeal specially- was quite good in my opinion.

It is a very middle-of-the-road episode and it could have been one of Season 1's best if done with a little more class.

I totally agree with you, Claws. Very much wasted potential :(

You mean Redstone? I thought she only had one bad memory connected with this place: being taken away from it by Vervain. Other than that she seemed to remember that place with fondness. It wasn't Efrafa after all.

I need to specify my post. I agree with Claws, that this episode has so much wasted potential. But I also agree with Myrkin:

Redstone was her home and I guess, she was happy (anyway happier than in Efrafa). So when you're captivated and the only thing, that keeps you holding on is the wish to get back home, you will get to it, when you're free, even if you're told, that it was gone.

I totally can understand her and her behavior towards Fiver.

Yeah, but I thought that that would have been enough to throw the idea of re-visiting the warren away. I mean, that's what I'd do (and correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Broom joined the warren at this point too? Bringing the tales of dead and misery?).

No. He had been living alone in Redstone until Primrose and Hazel came. Then he joined them on their return trip to Watership Down. Primrose didn't know Redstone was abandoned (except for Broom) before coming there, so she expected to find old friends there. I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, but Primrose was captured outside Redstone while the warren itself was never attacked by Woundwort and Efrafans, so she could reasonably expect to find a still inhabited warren.

Exactly. That's, why Cowslip told Woundwort about Redstone, because he didn't know of it before.

I haven't watched any episodes in a few years now and seeing as I have up to episode 9 in videos, I thought I should probably start with this. Not the best re-introduction! Seems I'm not the only one who think it is lacking. Almost put me off continuing! Please tell me the next one is better. XD

Dull journey to her old warren, (and on a side note, 'Broom' doesn't really seem to fit in the WD-universe of names - am I missing something there?), cringey montage scene, and where does that song suddenly come from?, dull and iffy story and animation in general.

If the others ones are like this... well, I guess I've grown quite out of this series or something. Still, I think I ought to give it a chance and should watch on!

I think you make a lot of valid points, Meadow.  The montage and song come out of nowhere, and includes scenes from episodes that haven't aired yet, including the Christmas special.  The episode introduces Redstone warren, which will be important later on in the series, but the trip in this episode feels rather pointless and annoying.

I wasn't much of a fan of the subplot about Fiver either.  In an earlier episode, Hawkbit made similar accusations and Fiver handled them well, and now he is left completely depressed.  Also it isn't pleasant seeing my favourite character suffer like this :fiver3

As for Broom's name, it appears to be a type of shrub or something.  Although the odds are that most viewers will probably end up thinking of that thing we use to sweep the floor instead :dandelion

More or less...it's a filler episode about a farm raid.  It's not as bad as the season 2 fillers, but it's still a filler, and somewhat breaks the continuity with the sudden introduction of Primrose's kittens...The series has some great episodes, but also some really bad ones.

Broom fits in the WD-universe of names. It's still a flower ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broom_(plant) ).

The journey was indeed a bit dull, but Redstone will take an important role in the series. I also really like the song "Thank You Stars". I even would say, it's a good follower to "Bright Eyes".

Yep! :P

I thought it probably had to be some kind of plant, and it is interesting to see what! But yeah, cannot disassociate the name with the floor sweeper!

I'll keep going with the rest of series one. Suppose it'll give these threads some more activity if I give my thoughts to other episodes, as well (hopefully more positive ones :D).

:silverweed3 I actually would have liked if they had episodes instead of a filler episode while Primrose was pregnant with her and Hazel's kittens and maybe there birth, I'm sure there would have been interesting character development in the show because of this.  :primrose

That's a pretty subtle way of making love X3
It's like the movie "The fox and the hound" in that aspect. The whole scene goes through music. And I really agree with the others, that this episode could have more potential, but something is something.   :hannah2

:silverweed3 Love is Love, dear. Yes, indeed this episode really did have the potential for greater things.
