The title of this episode sounds auspicious. But this one is definitely the worst episode of the whole series. The sheeps are bugging (I think, the rabbits thought the same :D )

Normally, when Pipkin chums up with other animals, they help Watership Down sooner or later. But Frost does nothing about that.

The idea with the attracted hawk was nice. Also the relay to get the dog's attention. But altogether, it's the lamest episode in the whole series  :meh

Well... If I remember correctly, he provides Pipkin with information where to find the farm sheep come from and ultimately the sheep dog, so he is a bit useful.

Personally, I got super annoyed at the sheep and thought that the whole episode was a boring Waste Of Time. On the other hand I can see how a situation like this might happen, so it could just have been an episode relating to everyday challenges for a rabbit.

Yes I know, on the one hand, this episode shows "normal" life in Watership Down. And it has a good reference to the original story with the dog and the relay. On the other hand: Placing such a episode short before the finale of the series simply appeal to reach 13 episodes because the creators have no good ideas.

They should have removed "Mysterious Visitors" and "The Invasion", maybe also "Bigwig's Way" and show instead of it a flashback to Sandleford up to it's destruction.

If not that, then they could have used this time to develop secondary characters like Clover, Blackavar, Holly or Broom. In tv series most of them get so little screen time they practically vanish for majority of episodes. I could imagine (for example) producers making an episode devoted to showing challenges and difficulties Clover faces during her transition from life she knew as human pet to that of wild rabbit she needs to become.

But at least, three of them had get more screentime in the third season. Only Blackavar fall by the wayside.

Ffffffffiller. ;)

This is one episode along with "Mysterious Visitors" and "The Market" that is not hogging up space on my harddrive. :hawkbit2  I'm not quite sure why we needed to waste time with an episode like this, and same goes for the episode before it.  Seems we forgot the storyline.

Seems more like the creators had to fill the 13-episodes-clause in their contract  :hawkbit

And again: Showing some flashbacks could had made the second season better than the first one (I mean, the main plot with the Campion part was better than the first season. Also the first episode and especially the last one where some of the best in the show). But what's between them...  :bigwig2

Watership Down is a beautiful series that I definitely need to re-watch, but I have yet to see the need for an episode like this one. Yes, the title makes it sound awesome but what's the actual content like? It's disappointing, boring and a little disturbing in its anti-climatic nature. I swear that if this was back in Season 1, I would have hesitated to keep watching the series just because of how desperate they would have seem in order to fulfill their required quota of episodes.

Heck, I'm actually struggling to remember ANY details of this episode, aside from the awesome rain effects and the sheep. Those darn sheep.

Well, I remember the episode well (I fear, I'm too addicted in that case :D ), but it's simply the worst episode of the series (with "Mysterious Visitors"). The main problem, I have: It would've been amazing, if they didn't produced the filler episodes and had shown us instead  two or three flashback-episodes from Sandleford.

I mean, we receive word about the past: That they've left their home Sandleford because it's gone, that Fiver had a vision of Watership Down, that Sandleford was destroyed by men. That Holly and Pimpernell escaped and that Pimpernell died in Cowslip's Warren.

But having a few episodes, SHOWING US what happened, would be great. The first pc-game also started back in Sandleford. I don't know, if they spare that really for the pc-game if they cut it out of the series (maybe because the test-audience didn't like it) and start the official part with the migration to Watership Down.

But I still say: Using a dog to get rid of the sheep is a nice innuendo to the book ;)

I was thinking about this and...

I could fire the entire crew, sell the tripod for the camera, film the same patch of grass, speed it ten times over so it's constantly shifting thru day and night and copy/paste some WSD lore over it so it looks like something, and it would still be a million times better than this one.

Sure, everything, you would do will be more interesting than this episode.

However, filming Bigwig for 20 minutes while he's producing hraka would be more interesting than this episode.

That could actually be quite an interesting episode.  Bigwig could, for example, try to train his owsla while passing hraka, or some funny background events could happen.

However, the censors probably wouldn't like an episode like that...
