Lady & the Tramp 1+2
« on: March 05, 2015, 09:40:39 AM »
Let's talk about two of my favorite Disney-movies.

I had the first one on the old single DVD, bought the sequel. Upgraded to the triple DVD-set  und finally bought it again on Blu-ray :D

Lady and the Tramp
Yes, the first one looks now a bit frumpy (but contrary to Aristocats, I still find it very watchable).

It's entertaining and has some nice (and even a bit dark) scenes.

You see, I make it rather short, because I want to come to one of my favorite Disney-movies (and one of the best Disney-sequels)  :D

Lady and the Tramp 2
In my opinion, the movie has excellent drawing and perfect animation. It's even worthy for cinema. Scamp is a cool character and even cooler is Angel. I loved her. Buster is a great villain (with a perfect german voice actor ;) ) I also found Tramps past interesting.

Only flaw: It has a bit too much singing.

Ok, I just watched it and I gotta say that... you were SO right, Darkling. This is one of the best animated movies that I have ever seen.

Maybe I will expand my thoughts on it tomorrow, but I'll have to say right now that I'm in debt with you for the recommendation (and also for "The Fearless Four").

Thank you, ya winged rat :D

It's bat, not rat (as long as you don't call me "fat"). Hope, that is now in your head!  :p

Woah, I'm sorry if I offended you, Darkling. That wasn't my intention uU.

I loved that finale, but it was really predictable, wasn't it? The rest of the movie wasn't, and that's why I like it so much.

Sorry, but the c-word simply rhymed with rap :D That's all. But that's not really my kind of music ;)

It maybe was a predictable. But why not? We're watching a Disney-movie, not David Lynch.

That's a relief *hug*.

Well, yeah, but the characters were far superior than your standard Disney heroes and, well, their development was almost flawless, so it was fair to expect something a little more creative to close their story.

Maybe, but I have always in mind ,that it is "only" a DTV-sequel.

When I should rate both movies, I would give
- 9 for the first one
- 10 for the sequel

I haven't seen the first one -or maybe I have, but I don't remember-, but your rating sounds fair (I will definitely second the last one).

DTV motives are a gamble... you can find this or... The Fox and the Hound 2 (which was pretty good for what it was but c'mon).

When Scamp's Adventure first came out in what, 2001? I thought it was realllly good. I've since cooled to it because the sequels just don't have the lasting depth of the original films. That said, it's still one of the better Disney sequels and I enjoy the songs. :)

Lady and the Tramp itself is a lovely Disney film; one of my favourites. So well made.
Here lies a signature that has little point.

What....a sequel better than the first? :o :o

But anyway, it would have to be really (really) good to knock out the first film.  Walt loved this film...he even gave his wife a puppy in the same manner (in a hatbox).  Plus this film actually has two different prints that were made, though most have only seen the Cinemascope version.  I like the story of the up-town belle finding the tramp by the tracks and finding they are right for each other, even if they are dogs! :)

Hey Darkling, I would like to know your opinion on something...

Spoiler: ShowHide
At the end of the movie, did they really left Buster half-crushed on that junk? That's kind of harsh, especially considering that he could have been hurt and also because he had no way to get food or water there. What do you think about that?

Sorry, that I didn't take you up on that earlier. I really had forgotten it :(

Due to the fact, that most of the Disney villains die at the end, I would say, he could be lucky.

Spoiler: ShowHide
He could also have landed into an scrap metal press or something like that :D

No, I didn't find his ending too harsh.
