I really like the movie. IIRC, the director did only produce cartoons like Tom & Jerry before. It was his first big budget movie - and his last. The movie bombed and his animation studio became closed.

Who has no problem with T&J-humour should definitely take a gander ;)

(note to myself: Need to get the soundtrack)

Kneel down before the greatness of Darkling's dark ... ... ... Darkness!!!
(note to myself: I need a new scriptwriter) (Avatar by Silverweed's Claws)

^ Bit of an old topic, but the soundtrack is practically impossible to find without spending an arm and a leg for it.

There are many that say this movie is like a metaphor for African Americans in 1940s Hollywood--they went through the same troubles as Danny does in the film.  While I can't say for sure if this is true, or an allegory for that time period, it wouldn't surprise me.  The film flopped because there was no marketing.  I don't think I even knew this film existed until years after the fact.  I think its a fun film, but not one I think is going to get repeated viewings--Danny's rise to fame so quickly is just simply too unrealistic and sappy for me.

I've never even heard of this film but it sounds interesting.
