Jungledyret Hugo (2003, TV-Series of Go Hugo Go)

The series follows the second movie. Hugo and Rita are chased by gangsters, crazy presidents and scientists. Their journey leads them from the city to the jungle, from there to the north pole and back to the city.

What I like is the drawing style. It's absolutely not dark (like the first movie), but very colorful. Unfortunately, the series gets a little bit too supernatural in the end (including trolls and dwarfs.

It's the worst release of the Jungledyret series but still very enjoyable.  :hannah

You know? The TV Series gave me such a headache. For one part, I really love the idea, the visuals and the characters; And for the other... the story is never as engaging as it was on the films.

The story also seems to fall apart half-way thru, when magic comes into play. Come on, Hugo doesn't need magic at all, why is that even there?

Rita is also a bit downplayed this time and I don't understand why. Hugo worked so well as a franchise because the movies were Hugo's as much as they were Rita's.

Oh yeah, the intro song is awesome.

Yeah, when you ask me for a rating, I only would give the series 6 points out of 10.

And however, I enjoy watching it. I can't explain, why. Yes, this magic BS is not only needless, it's sometimes really annoying.

But one thing about this I have to say:

Spoiler: ShowHide
When the trolls are chasing the hunters away and they are looking for the ranger, was simply great:

IIRC
"Help us! We were hunt.. I mean watching animals, when these trolls appear!"
(Wary look of the ranger)
"You mean hunting?"
"No, not hunting!"
(the trolls throw the rifle to the hunters)
"Oh, where does this came from?"
"Perhaps the trolls have thrown it behind you!"
:D
