There are not many series with a time-travelling turtle.

What do you think about Hedge? And please don't come now with "They just wrote her into the series to finish it, because they had no idea for an ending"!

Because we only see her in one episode, we don't know much about her. And still I think, she's a interesting character.

The trail to and on the island was build by humans (obviously). Why did the creators used a turtle, that seemingly experience time in another way like normal animals? Maybe just to create some mystic touch to her.

When she has the power to call the Black Rabbit of Inlé, what was her purpose on earth? She called the earth "an island". Did she came from outer space? Or from another dimension? Maybe from the shadowland?

We have no answers to these questions. But we can conjecture here.

Hawkbit would say, that we're enlarging too much upon this, but luckily, this is Darkling's Fiver's Honeycomb.

So let's come and join this theoretical discussion!  :speaker-of-the-past

Oh, she's definitely one of the most interesting characters to appear on the series, but, just like Buttercup, it would have been nice to see more of her. She could have proven quite useful at the beginning-to-middle part of the series as well (I wonder what she would have advised against Efrafa).

Of course, it would be, but it wasn't. So it's up to our imagination to think about it  :tassel

For some reason, I didn't realize Hedge was female until I read this thread :speaker-of-the-past

Anyway, when the concept of a hedgewizard was first introduced when :vervain was supposed to look insane, it felt believable.  However, I was somewhat disapointed when it turned out that the hedgewizard is actually a wizard called Hedge.

I don't think she called the Earth an island.  If I remember correctly, it goes like this:
Hedge: You may be small, but your heart is as big as a planet.
 :hannah What is a planet?
Hedge: We are on one.
:hannah I thought we were on a big island.

But anyway, like :buttercup she appears in only one episode, which is not long enough to get any significant character development and an explanation for the time travel thing.  With what we get, I think it just feels weird.
Have you considered making each day count - doing something meaningful each day - instead of letting the days and weeks and months and years fly into oblivion? --Bright Side

When we have supernatural elements in the series, let's put this discussion on a supernatural level! :inle-series

Maybe, Frith had a contingency plan, if rabbits don't act after his perceptions. This plan allows for a living animal to call the :inle-series , even if someone isn't going to die. To call :inle-series , Frith created something like a incantation. Of course, this incantation had to be known by an animal, that lives on earth. This animal is Hedge.

When I heard Yonna first tell Hannah to see the "Hedgewizard" (note she did not say "Hedge the Wizard" at first), I laughed for a solid five minutes. Both Hannah and Yonna were part of the act in The Great Game, and Hannah didn't even react to that fact that Yonna just told her to seek out a magical character that the rabbits presumably made up in the previous season.

I thought Hedge was a pretty humorous character with her making fun of Hannah's ignorance. I don't understand why she decided to be so mysterious regarding the magic spell she gave to Hannah, like not explaining the price (though Hannah should have figured out that the price is pretty much stated in the words of the spell). But why does Hedge never have to pay any prices for her spells?? I would assume that a "wizard" of Hedge's caliber would have used many very powerful spells like the one given to Hannah, and Hedge said that stronger spells have higher prices. What was the price of giving the magic to Hannah?

:hedge don't have to pay any price because she just something like a custodian. I believe, she doesn't use her own spells.

I believe, she got her power from Frith. Maybe, that animals on earth could obtain godlike powers in case of emergency. :hedge is maintaining these powers. She also have some sort of power (probably given by Frith to see, if creatures, who are seeing here, are dignified to learn the spell).

But she's only passing her entrusted knowledge to other animals.

^ That's one of the reasons for which it'd have been nice to see her for more than one episode.

Yeah, but it's no use to be annoyed of things, that aren't there. Let's indulge in possibilities, that could have been :)
