-------------------------------------------------------

- It takes approximately 30.000 frames of animation to make a 20-minute cartoon.

- Originally, the "Buttons and Mindy" cartoons presented on Animaniacs! Were going to be scrapped due to the lack of enthusiasm they spawned on the executives. Those were, however, picked after one of the executive's kids found their designs "interesting".

- The Panzer VIII "Maus" (of which there were only three completed models) was the heaviest fully-enclosed armed vehicle ever built, weighing 188 tons.

Now's your turn :)

Attempted revive! I need to use this thread because sometimes I come across fun and/or interesting facts and soon forget them again and this could help keep them fresh for me. :D

I discovered the other day that Jelly Babies were at first called 'Unclaimed Babies', which I thought was quite funny in a slightly sinister way.  :vervain2

Surprised this thread hasn't received more attention, I'll post a few facts:

- The UK's Ministry of Defence owns 3.5 times as many pieces of fine art as it does warships, tanks, helicopters, planes and submarines.
- In the Middle Ages, 'Mob Football' was played between neighbouring towns and villages. It had an unlimited number of players, a pig's-bladder ball and the objective was to get the ball to a marker on the other side of the opponent's town, or into the balcony of the opponent's church. The only rule was 'No manslaughter or murder'.
- Yorkshire had a Christmas tradition of festive sword dancing.
- The Queen has a personal bagpiper who plays outside her window for 15 minutes each morning. This position is known as the 'Piper to the Sovereign'.

Mob football sounds both exciting and horrifying.

During World War I, the British tried to condition seagulls to associate submarine periscopes with food.  The goal was to make said submarines easier to locate by human observers, by the large number of seagulls flying around them.  It didn't work :kehaar
Have you considered making each day count - doing something meaningful each day - instead of letting the days and weeks and months and years fly into oblivion? --Bright Side
